The Robert Giard Foundation established the Robert Giard Fellowship in cooperation with the Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies (CLAGS) at the City University of New York Graduate Center 2008.  The award of $7,500, to be given annually, supports an emerging, early- or mid-career artist from any country working in photography, photo-based media, video, or moving image, including short-form film or video of no more than 30 minutes in length. This award supports a directed project, one that is new or continuing and that addresses issues of sexuality, gender, or LGBTQ identity.
